PE - Plan for the Year

At Key Stage 4, pupils will participate in a wide range of sporting activities while continuing to develop their personal fitness and wellbeing through regular use of the school gym. The curriculum is designed to build confidence, independence and a lifelong appreciation of physical activity.

Alongside practical participation, pupils will develop their understanding of how different types of exercise affect the body and learn the principles of training and fitness. They will gain valuable experience in planning and delivering training programmes, leading sessions, and evaluating performance, helping to develop both leadership and communication skills.

Pupils will have the opportunity to represent the school in competitive sporting fixtures against local schools, promoting teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship.

As part of their studies, pupils will work towards the Pearson BTEC Level 1 Introductory Award, Certificate and Diploma in Sport, gaining knowledge and practical experience across a range of sporting contexts. In addition, pupils will have the opportunity to achieve AQA Unit Awards through participation and achievement in a variety of sports and physical activities, recognising their individual progress and accomplishments.

Our KS4 PE programme provides pupils with the skills, knowledge and qualifications needed to support further study, employment and continued participation in sport and physical activity.
