BECC (Behaviour, Etiquette, Citizenship and Careers

BECC (Behaviour, Etiquette, Citizenship and Careers) is an explicit behaviour focused curriculum. BECC aims to equip our KS3 students with the key skills, attributes and knowledge that they need to meet behavioural expectations within education, work and society, now and in the future. BECC prepares students for success, at Greenwood and beyond. BECC runs over a 12 week period (relationship building activities will be used to fill in weeks on longer terms), and the subjects within run concurrently. BECC runs alongside RSHE, core subjects and the Arts.

Behaviour and etiquette specifically teaches our students the expectations and behaviour expected of them in different settings and situations. It identifies and models these expectations in a clear, direct and obvious way, removing the often-implicit nature of behaviour and etiquette through increasing cultural capital and understanding of the world around them.

Citizenship follows the compulsory curriculum for KS3 teaching about British Values, rights and responsibilities, democratic society, and budgeting and debt. The curriculum provides our students the opportunity to contribute to their community in a positive way. This helps boost self-esteem, creates a sense of pride and belonging, and explicitly shows our students the positive contributions they can make.

Careers helps students to connect their current academic learning to the world of further education and the workplace. The three modules: Self-awareness and interests; Exploring the World of Work and Future Planning and Pathways, identify student's strengths, inform them of different industries within the labour market and prepare them to make informed decisions for KS4 options and Post 16 pathways.
