Relationships and relational practice are at the heart of everything we do at Greenwood. Enrichment allows students the opportunity to build secure attachments with staff in an environment that is less target and results pressured for both staff and pupils. Enrichment also allows students to build and strengthen relationships with their peers across different classes and year groups, reenforcing a sense of belonging to the school, and helping to eliminate traditional hierarchy issues often seen in schools with mixed age groups.

We know that a sense of belonging is a key indicator in the success of students at Greenwood. A student who feels they are wanted and belongs is more likely to feel safe enough to regularly attend school, disclose any issues that may be putting them at risk and allow them the opportunity to try new things and take the risk of getting things wrong. Enrichment allows all these opportunities whilst allowing students access to opportunities and experiences they may not get elsewhere.
